Since Wilhelm von Humboldt, the importance of linking research and teaching has been reiterated as a key principle for higher education. In the context of Danish higher education, notions of research-based education and -teaching have flourished since the 1990s surrounding efforts to develop such link. With the Danish university reform from 2003, research-based education became an explicit aim of the university. At the UCPH it is now reinvented as part of strategic efforts, emphasizing the integration of research and teaching.
