Study and Research Paths in Statistics for Business
Speaker: Kristina Markulin, PhD candidate at the Ramon Llull University in Barcelona, Spain
Abstract: In this seminar I will present my ongoing doctoral thesis project about the ecology of study and research paths (SRPs) in university statistics. We have been implementing SRPs in an introductory statistics course in a business degree at the Ramon Llull University in Spain. The analyses of the implementation have been carried out from the perspective of the anthropological theory of the didactic. The research questions addressed are related to the conditions and constraints that are met in the transition from the paradigm of visiting works to the paradigm of questioning the world. We see how the course components nourish the SRP and how this, in return, makes the course content evolve and adapt to the students’ professional needs.
