Mathematical praxeologies of “Probability” in Chinese high school textbooks

Abstract: Mathematics textbooks are supporting materials for students’ learning of mathematics. What and how textbooks can provide for students to learn mathematics is worthy of our study. In this seminar, I would like to share how the topic “probability” is treated in Chinese high school textbook published by People’s Education Press in 2019. I use the notion of praxeology from the anthropological theory of the didactic to analyze the tasks presented in the textbook. In addition, the presentation will provide an overview of the plan of my PhD project about “the performance and adjustment of high school mathematics textbook use”.
