Marsbasen, IBSE and magic circles at DASERA 2021
We presented some of our research insights and rationales at DASERA's seminar on 19/11. In our presentation, we explained how narrative scenarios can be part of the solution to the problem of a performance culture (in which students do not feel that they are allowed to fail) and students' desire to participate in study-based science teaching. With narrative scenarios, one can seek to create a magic circle where students can act in ways they would not normally do. That way, they have the story as an alibi which makes it ok to fail. Making mistakes that you can learn from can be seen as an important part of learning science, and therefore it can be a first step that students dare to generate ideas of which they are uncertain.
