Professor Carl Winsløw steps down as president of ERME
Professor Carl Winsløw has stepped down as president of ERME. PhD student Derya Diana Cosan becomes a new board member of the European Society for Research in Mathematics Education.

Professor Carl Winsløw has stepped down as president of ERME, the European Society for Research in Mathematics Education, after four years of tenure.
This took place at ERME’s general assembly, which was recently held during the CERME14 congress in Bolzano, Italy.
“It has been four challenging years due to the COVID pandemic from 2020 to 2022, but nevertheless, we have successfully held three CERME congresses and even finally made it to Bolzano, where the 2021 congress was originally planned,” says Carl Winsløw.
“We have also managed to find fair solutions in handling the overwhelming interest in participating in the society’s activities.”
Carl Winsløw took over the presidency in 2021 and had previously served on ERME’s board for six years from 2013 to 2019. He is succeeded by Norwegian Frode Rønning.
Derya Diana Cosan joins the board
The Department of Science Education will continue to be represented in ERME. During the general assembly, PhD student Derya Diana Cosan was elected as the representative for early-career researchers (YERME) on the society’s board.
In her election speech, she emphasized the importance of strengthening networking opportunities among early-career researchers in mathematics education, particularly in relation to countries and institutions with emergent research communities.
Once again, IND was well represented at CERME. You can find an overview of the contributions here.
