Workshop 1: Science communication FOR sustainability
February 21, 2023 9:30-15:30
Experimentarium, Tuborg Havnevej 7, 2900 Hellerup
This workshop discusses how sustainability calls for a better integration of science communication practice and research.
The day will be a mixture of presentations, group work, exploration and discussions. We ask science communicators, citizens and other stakeholders what input they need from research, and we ask researchers what they need from the perspectives of practice and everyday experience. We also explore cutting-edge examples of sustainability science communication in Experimentarium. Finally, we co-create first ideas about a more constructive and useful way to think about the interface between theory and practice when communicating sustainability.
In this first workshop, we will:
- Question: What is science communication for sustainability?
- Hear about: Science communication in a time of crisis (keynote by Professor Sarah Davies)
- Work on understanding: The divide between theory and practice
- Map out: What we want from each other as practitioners, researchers, and laymen
Lunch is included.
Keynote speaker:
Professor Sarah R Davies, University of Vienna
