Workshop 2: Science communication AS sustainability
April 27, 2023 9:30-15:30
Medical Museion, Bredgade 62, 1260 København
This workshop examines how science communication can enact sustainability.
The day will begin with a shared exploration of an artwork based on Workshop 1. Through presentations, group work and discussions, we will seek to understand how communication methods can be sustainable, and help us imagine sustainability differently. We visit the art-science exhibition Mind the Gut, and discuss what lessons can be learned from it. Finally, we concretise our co-created ideas for science education that is sustainable and also promotes sustainability.
In this second workshop, we will:
- Summarize: The findings and conclusions from Workshop 1 through an artwork
- Hear about: How the mix of art and science can help us reach a sustainable future (keynote by Professor Harald Heinrichs)
- Learn: Why it is worth talking about utopias in sustainability science communication (keynote by Professor Stephen Duncombe)
- Engage with: An example of how art and science can mix and benefit from one another.
- Work together on: How to design a process that leads to new types of sustainable science communication?
Lunch and dinner are included.
Keynote speakers:
Professor Stephen Duncombe, New York University
Professor Harald Heinrichs, Leuphana University of Lüneburg
